[A little distance north of the village, towards Cherry Blossom Tree hill, a large, unconscious creature blocks the path further north. A beached whale this far from the ocean? Wait, no, it's just a New Feather... A rather bulbous humanoid, splayed out on his back and sleeping like a baby. Not for long, though.]
Aaaargh!
[He wakes with a start,
(

A very loud New Feather.]
I... would be m-most willing to... answer your questions...
... But... if I may ask before, how exactly are you... affiliated with Knuckles...?
[It does not occur to Robert that the Knuckles he knows and the Knuckles this man knows could be entirely different people.]

You! You there! Can you hear me?! I demand an explanation for this! You obviously have no idea who you're dealing with!
Reply
You are... c-correct in that I have no idea. But I am... merely a prisoner in this place, like yourself.
... You have, unfortunately, been indicted into the... e-experimental colony known as Luceti, qu-quite against your will, and against the wills of any of the other v-villagers.

What kind of explanation is that?! I don't remember being captured! Besides, I'm too much of a genius to let someone just kidnap me! Explain yourself!

It is the... beginnings of an explanation.
And none of us do. I... I was asleep when I was c-captured. Six months ago. [He lets the gravity of that statement settle a moment before he continues.]
I... can d-direct you to the guide, written by a long-term r-resident here, if it would help...

The guide may be... d-difficult to accept at first, but I assure you it is... independently verified.
[As much as that's possible in Luceti, anyway.]

If I'm going to be reading this, I'll need shelter, not to mention a comfortable chair, some snacks, perhaps a nice cool drink with an umbrella...
Reply
... Well, n-no, I suppose not.
But, er, there... is the village itself, and several stations devoted to n-newcomers here... would you perhaps need assistance?
[Ethics dictate he should help a fellow sapient, even if said sapient spends most of the time yelling at him.]

[He sighs.] To think, the world's greatest scientist should be reduced to this - asking for the help of strangers!

The less-than-world's-greatest-scientist pulls on a loose rain coat over his lab coat - yes, it looks ridiculous, but he's never cared - before heading outside into the drizzle, journal in tow. As he walks, he speaks.]
Can you... pl-please describe your surroundings? [There hadn't been enough video to discern much, though Robert is definitely studying it for anything that jars his memory.
... Though he's definitely distracted by that line about scientists. That's something he'll need to ask about.]

Errr, well. Let's see. There's certainly a lot of trees, I'd say I'm on a path in a forest. Still, that can't be very helpful. Err. [He looks around some more, starting to walk down the path.] Ah-ha! I'm at the foot of a hill, there's erm, MORE trees at the top.

Still, Robert is managing to get a better look at the area now that Eggman's moving around, and he catches a flash of something familiar -]
... Ah... Prunus serrulata. You must be in the grove of them.
[Of course. It had to be on the other side of the village, practically.
At least he's in better shape now?]
I am afraid I may... take some time to arrive...
Reply
That will have to do. Still, I suppose it gives me some time to start reading this 'guide' you linked me to.
[Eggman starts to climb up the hill, letting out a few grunts as he makes the effort. Things were easier when he had the eggpod, flying chairs and such to transport him everywhere. He takes shelter under one of the trees to begin reading in relative comfort.]

He walks in silence a few minutes, giving the doctor time to peruse the guide without his voice as commentary, and just takes in the village. It only now occurs to him that since the events of a few days ago this might actually be dangerous, but... ethics argue that he should help people, and besides he's already halfway there now. His walking speed has improved a lot (and he mostly has his boyfriend to thank).
Eventually, he breaks the silence with a query.]
So, er... you s-said something about... being a scientist? I... I must confess, it has been awhile since I have met a fellow... scientist, in Luceti.
[He can still count the number of scientists he knows here on one hand. This makes him genuinely sad.]

A scientist? I'm only the greatest scientific mind to grace the Earth in fifty years! [Eggman loves being able to show off.] You might have heard of me! My name is Doctor Robotnik, but I'm better known around the world as Doctor Eggman.
[Maybe Eggman shouldn't have said that... If this fellow knows who he is, he might not come and rescue him.]
