Nick was in his office, if only because he'd wanted to get started on next week's lesson a bit early. Besides, it made sense to be in his office. He certainly didn't have anything else to do.
On her way to her weekly visit to Anakin's office, Raven noticed that Nick's door was open. She froze for a moment, wrestling with the desire to sneak by teleport so as not to let him see her, but she didn't want to let her fear get the better of her. She took a deep, steadying breath, then peered into Nick's office. "Professor Chevalier?" she called softly.
Raven stepped into the doorway, but didn't enter the office any further than that, still too nervous to do so. She wasn't sure how to politely go about asking what she wanted to ask, so she just said it in a rush. "Is it true that you...are a vampire?"
He'd opened his mouth, about to tell her how glad he was that she was all right when the question hit him like a blow to the head. He only rocked perhaps an inch, maybe a little more.
Then a terribly weary expression settled on his features.
"I don't suppose you would feel comfortable if I asked you to come in and close the door," he finally said, standing up and walking around to sit on the edge of his desk.
He held both of his hands up, spread open for her to see, as he moved. And when he sat, he put his hands on his lap.
