Whoa. Your idea of intellectual exercise is pretty scary. Politics is almost completely foreign to me. I feel the same way though! About feeling as if we're too busy and not using our brains enough in the right way. We shall try hard to use our brains more! Heehee.

Regarding the Chicago thing, might be worth noting that ppl who disagree with the ruling party's policies would find it much easier to move to areas where they're more comfortable compared to Singaporeans who would have to emigrate? So it's more likely that ppl who alr agree with the ruling party's policies would live there.
it's a pretty good read! yeah the bit about emigration is true. then again today a friend said the analogy didn't quite work, since these big city US ppl can effectively vote their parties in and choose to therefore let them dominate, while for us i guess while we have the vote physically we don't really get to exercise it unless GRC's contested eh? i thought that was a valid point too heh.
