Depression

I need your help in terms of bibliotherapy - I am looking for book recommendations where the protagonists experience depression.

The only great book I can think of is Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak. Any suggestions are really appreciated!

Ah, Damage by A.M. Jenkins was excellent. Popular high school boy with severe depression, told from his POV. One of my favorite reads of '03.

If you want another book that's not so young adult, there's also Prozac Nation (or so I've heard) that is supposed to be good.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the YA book 'Izzy Willy-Nilly' by Cynthia Voigt.

It's one of my favourite books. It's about a young girl who is involved in a car accident, which results in the amputation of her leg.

It's one of the most genuine depictions of depression I have ever read in a YA novel. A definite must-read.
