Eek!

I actually just got properly excited by a new supermarket opening near us. I terrify myself sometimes.

...although it is a Waitrose. Should we just file for bankruptcy now?

I love Waitrose and if there was one nearer me I'd shop there all the time, cost be damned.

I got very excited earlier on in the year when our local supermarket opened! Best thing that's happened near us for ages.

I actually get the bus up to Harborne Waitrose to do my shopping when I can manage it, rather than the Sainsburys which is 5 mins walk from my house, cause it's just *so* much better. And I don't find it any dearer than Sainsburys - just that I spend more because there's more decent stuff to buy! (but on the other hand that means I'm eating better so I hope it's money well spent). If I just bought my general Sainsburys shop items it wouldn't cost me any more.
At least you can have exciting shopping outings there with baby while you're off work (but after you've recuperated of course!)

Waitrose is great (so great you can even buy cloth nappies at the Harborne one should you feel the need) but yes it will bankrupt you. Do NOT, repeat do NOT do the weekly shop there. Be strong.

Footnote... when accompanied by well behaved baby you get a higher than average amount of of indulgent smiles from grannies in Waitrose. If your child does decide to throw a wobbler you get a higher than average amount of icy stares that positively scream "GET THEE TO LIDL, SCUM-WENCH".
