That really was unexpected. I suspect that there will be unsympathetic types dancing at the news. For a guy who founded a company that employed thousands and benefited millions (at one point), this is sad indeed.

You are referring to the same guy who then defrauded millions, enriched his own coffers, financially devastating the 4,000 people who worked for him, and whose company cost the taxpayers of California over a billion dollars through manipulation and in fact outright creation of the California energy crisis earlier this decade? THAT Ken Lay?

You want to know how unsympathetic I am? I'm sorry he isn't going to languish in prison for decades. I'm sorry that every penny of his fortune isn't being distributed to the victims of his crimes.

I'm not dismissing the fact that he went bad. It just saddens me that for a guy who *had* so much potential to do some real good in the world, he squandered it for selfish personal gain, and will now be forever tied to corporate greed and corruption.

I wonder what exactly *is* left of his fortune? Time for moi to do a web search..

Okay.. found it. It won't go far, but after the legal bills and funeral expenses are paid, a couple of dollars in one's savings account is symbolically a whole lot better than a vault full of nothing.

They are saying heart attack. I don't believe it for a minute. The lying coward committed suicide, I'll bet, probably by some drug. May he rot in hell.

EDIT: More likely the Bush Crime Family shut him up for good before he could 'negotiate' a lighter sentence by telling what he knows about King George.

I wondered, myself. Mostly about the second idea.

At best, he was arrogant and incredibly negligent. At worst, he was a lying, manipulative fraudster. Either way, it doesn't say much about his character. I don't rejoice in his death, and I do feel bad for his wife and family (imagine how his name is going to be dragged thru the proverbial mud now). Still, I can't muster up much sympathy for a self-made man who pissed away his comapny and fortune like he did.
