Literature Entry Week 1, Semester Two

It is the beginning of another semester of uni and I am already missing the long and "hardworking" days of the holidays! :P heheh~ hope you all are too.

Apart from finding out that some of us will not be having Michael as our tutor this semester, I am finding Australian literature to be a new and very fascinating adventure for me.

Lol!! Ayumi Hamasaki!! OMG!!! I used "the rabbits" as a supplementary text for HSC... studied it in class... I agree, really deep, even we as highschool students were blown away.

But I think that rather than "teaching" the little kiddies about the not-so beautiful past, I think he tries to portray something as vile as discrimination and oppression as something almost fairytale-like, making the learning somehow unconscious. The book is filled with richly detailed illustrations, a style typical of what you'd find in an editorial or reader's digest. BUT children focus on the pictures more than the words, therefore the learning is subconscious.
