Wk 9 Literature Entry Blake
Marriage of Heaven and Hell:
This week we analysed Blake's M of H&H. I think it is more effective to use particular lines to convey Blake's binary opposition.

Wk 7 Literature Entry Blake
Today in lecture and tutorial we compared Bake's Songs of Innocence, to the Songs of Experience. In particular, we focused on Blake's use of 'song' to convey the differnent meeanings of the same topic, or subject marker as such. This week's focus study was on Blake's "All Religions are One". The title itself, suggests that there is no better, or right religion which governs our beliefs, but rather all religions are the same, but come in different forms. This week we looked at Ostriker’s essay concerning the main issues in Blake’s work. I was quite interested at how she examined the sexual and gender issues associated with his writing. Wow, what a start to the new unit~! The past two weeks have been filled with knowledge and insight and personally, I think David Malouf may be onto something spectacular. Oscar Wilde has always been one of my favourite classic authors, along with Austen and Blake. His witty degeneration of a stuffy and overbearing 19th century Victorian England makes his works so enjoyable to read. Today in tute, we studied Tolstoy. I was amazed at how he protrayed death and the reaction to it from those who should be affected greatly from it. Even more amazing was Tolstoy's morbid fascination with death, especially as it plays a big part in all his writings, such as "The Death of Ivan Illych", and "Master and Man ( Read more... )
