Watchdog and Hair of the Dog by Laurien Berenson. These are early installments in a series of which I've already read later books, so I know some things will work out (relationships) and some might not (ditto). It's a rare thing to be disappointed by a Margaret Truman novel, but while the ending of Monument to Murder, published three years after Truman's death, is realistic, it was also very disappointing.
