A tragic Saturday

Those of ya'll in Houston know there was a fierce storm here on Saturday afternoon, damn front..

My dad was telling me earlier its not the ppower surges that kill tv during a storm, its the phone line hooked up to it..... when lightning strikes the phones , tv is such a device that the power then hits its hard drive....... not sure if that made sense.... but thats how i understand

You can get surge protectors that have phone protection as well. I think I would invest in one; they are a lot cheaper that $79.

I don't think the surge went through the phone line. If it did why would it Kill the television as well as the DirecTivo, but not harm the DVD/home theater, they are all connected in some way or another. But who knows, it could have been the phone line!

Our current surge protector does have that phone protection as well.. but we need to get one that has protection for the coaxal cables coming from the satellite dish. The issue there is there are 2 cables from the dish (the tivo has 2 tuners in it) and I've never seen a surge protector that had protection for 2 separate coaxal cable.

Sorry about the tv and such. Yeah my electricity when off too when the lightening struck close to me. Thought it hit my tv but thank goodness it had a surge protector as well as the computer...but my roadrunner was out for a few hours...wasn't a happy camper...but glad you had fun at Astroworld.
