Wow. Sad.

Since the counselor knows enough about it that she knows it was an extension cord, is she then a mandatory reporter--in other words, now required to notify Child Protective Services?

She would be required to do that, and she knows it. I didn't ask, but knowing this person the way I do I am certain that she already has done so.

I have such a hard time with things like that. This summer, we had a couple of kids with problems. None of them were physically abused (at least that we could see), but there were definitely some emotional things there. We made so much progress with each of them (there were two different kids in particular) over the course of the two weeks, but it was so sad to have the two weeks end and know that our influence wasn't there anymore. Two weeks just isn't long enough to know that once they're gone from you it's gonna stick.
