shadowcrawler12 [Challenge][Y][FF] Summary: An artist who discovered an inspiration, a theme that is prominent in all of his work.

It was just a color, a color that represented nothing but the shading on the paper sitting before him but, for whatever reason, it moved him more than any word could.
He stared at the painting before him, noting the vibrant red strands that trailed across it. He laid his brush down underneath it, surprised of his sudden inspiration and at the end result. It didn't show the figure's face, but the back of someone walking by in the distance, as if completely out of reach. He reached his fingers hesitantly towards it, trailing along the ragged dried paint.
He heard the doors slide open behind him, he barely turned when he realized exactly who it was.
"Ah, I thought Ryeowook would be here." Kibum shook his head as Heechul gave a slanted look. "You're still here?" Kibum watched as Heechul strolled inside and behind him, leaning over his shoulder as he examined the painting. "Not bad."
Kibum stiffened slightly as he rose up from his seat, putting away his supplies as Heechul smirked.
"Always giving the cold shoulder and here I thought we were finally becoming friends." Heechul said as he touched the tip of the painting. "I like your painting though." With that he left the room and closed the doors behind him.
Kibum cleaned his brushes and wiped his hands on the cloths, looking back at the painting. He was glad that he, of all people, liked it.
Remembering the raven-colored person that left, he fumbled with the cloth in his hand. Breathing out as he realized that he had been holding it in.

Kibum stuffed his hands in his pockets as he leaned against the pillar of the campus grounds, watching his animated conversation with his friends. Always surrounded by friends with he on the other hand, had stood alone, completely isolated from everyone else.
He looked down and thought briefly of the conversation he had with him, cornered somewhat as they both stood alone once in a corridor.
"I wish I had a talent like yours." Heechul said, "I admit I'm a bit envious, I'd give anything to be that good. Sadly I have nothing really going for me."
Kibum parted his lips, wanting to speak. "But you have plenty of friends."
Heechul tilted his head. "That's true, but most people do, it's not that hard."
"It is hard." Kibum corrected solemnly. "People think its easy to socialize, but its the hardest thing possible."
Heechul gave a thoughtful look before chuckling. "It's really not, but I guess that's why you have to get straightforward people to say something to you. And luckily for you," He stepped towards him and met his eyes. "I'm quite outspoken enough for the both of us."
It wasn't unusual, he had had people who've talked to him because they felt the need to. Because their personalities had to speak to those who couldn't talk, their polar opposites. But unlike the others from before, Heechul was different. He wasn't sure how, he was just as unique, just as vibrant, just as different as those he's come across in his life. Something about him though made his chest clench, an unfamiliar feeling that he hadn't thought he'd ever feel for anyone.
And he didn't like it, why did he have to like someone who was unsuitable for him? The statement people often say that opposites attract, he wondered how it was even possible. Especially when he felt he would never be able to say anything, much less receive something in return.
He turned away and around the pillar, the need to paint was overwhelming and he needed to head to that place.
He opened his sketchbook and stared at the river before him, sitting comfortably on the grass covered ground. Unfortunately without his painting supplies, he had to draw instead. The sounds of the tip of his pencil scratching against the paper, the lines seemingly carelessly done yet distinct as it showed the flowers gradually transition to the sunset. He sighed, knowing full well the colors he would use once he transferred it to a painting, .
He flipped through the pages of his sketchbook, noting how the theme of most of them had used the same color. The color that were dominant even in his paintings, the same vibrant red.
He thought he had heard footsteps behind him, he didn't turn around even as the footsteps neared him until they stopped completely. He looked from the corner of his eye at the figure that sat beside him, smiling knowingly as he peered at his work.
"Amazing as always." Heechul commented as he leaned back against his hands on the ground. "This place is nice, I see why you like to sit here."
Kibum swallowed his silence. "What are you doing here?"
"How rude, not even a hi." Heechul said lightly and replied rather bluntly. "I followed you."
"Why?" He asked, Heechul smiled.
"Because I wanted to ask why you were staring at me earlier." Kibum was caught off-guard by his statement, Heechul flipped the hair out of his eyes. "You're not that sly, just so you know."
Kibum cleared his throat. "I'm sorry-"
"Don't be, I'm used to it, its flattering really. I just didn't know you were one of my fans." He smiled, Kibum turned away, embarrassed at his actions, more so that he was caught. "Either you think that I'm attractive, interesting, or you may actually like me. Which of the three?"
He wasn't sure how he was suppose to answer that, instead focusing on the river before him.
"Don't play that silent treatment game on me again." Heechul warned, getting up from the ground as he patted away the grass from his clothes. Placing his hands on his hips as held the tip of his raven hair in his hands. "I'm sick of this color. Wonder what I should change it too." He said casually.
"Red hair." Kibum turned away immediately, realizing he had just answered his question out loud.
Heechul walked in front of his eyes though, kneeling down to meet his eye level. "Why red?"
He might as well answered, he had already put himself in his position. "You look better with red hair." Kibum commented.
Heechul tilted his head at his statement. "You think so?" He played with the tip of his hair, looking at it before smiling smugly. "You do like me it seems." Kibum looked down as Heechul nodded approvingly.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, feeling his chest clench again.
"You don't have to be sorry." Heechul said with a slight pout. "Don't ever be ashamed of liking me. And I mean ever, or else I might take offense to that."
Kibum smiled slightly, he felt himself being lifted up forcibly by his free hand, his sketchbook in his other hand.
"I'm hungry, lets go eat." Heechul said.
Kibum was pulled alongside him, his hand still in his.
"Also," Heechul started. "This is a rule you must always follow, I never pay on dates, especially when the other person asked me first."
Kibum gave a puzzled look. "When did I-"
"You did." Heechul stated. "And if anyone asks, it was all you, no matter how disbelieving that actually sounds."
Kibum smiled at his statement, he looked up as the wind picked up, moving his hair just slightly.
It was the same on that day he had first took notice of him as well. He had been looking around for some inspiration, something he could draw, something that would capture his attention. His pencil aimlessly drawing lines, nothing he was satisfied with.
And when he had looked up and around, the wind had picked up harshly, the paper leaving his hands and across the ground. He chased after it when it was stepped on, he halted to a stop as he watched the person pull it from the ground. He looked up and into Heechul's smile.
He locked eyes with him, handing the paper over. "You're really good." He complimented, the wind picking up again, the light reflecting his shade of red hair.
And as he walked away, he realized that he had found it.
His inspiration.
