[Challenge][Y][FF] Summary: His friend sets him up with a job interview, he wants out of it.

***
"At least make yourself presentable and, when I say presentable, I don't mean throw on jeans and a t-shirt, calling it a day."

Kibum plopped down on his bed and sighed heavily as Zhou Mi threw a jacket to his face. "Who's this all important person that deserves for me to come in wearing a tux?"

"Not a tux... Then again-"

"No." Kibum said crossly as he pulled the jacket from his face.

"You're making things difficult!" Zhou Mi said exasperatedly. "Just please..." He looked over Kibum's informal attire and pleaded. "Please wear something else."

Kibum arched an eyebrow. "I'm wearing what I'm wearing." He stated, he ran his fingers through his hair. "Who am I meeting anyway?"

"A good friend of mine who agreed to have an interview with you, and just so you know, it's a pretty good job."

Kibum parted his lips to retort when Zhou Mi narrowed his eyes at him.

"You can't keep lazing about doing nothing, earn some money instead of borrowing from others...Mainly me." He added.

Kibum sighed. "Fine." He snatched the jacket and threw it on the ground. "I still refuse to wear that."

Zhou Mi relented.

---

By the time he reached the building where the interview took place, the two were bruised up and had disheveled appearances. "You just had to be difficult." Zhou Mi muttered.

"You're the one being difficult." Kibum said as rubbed his arm. "You hit like a girl."

"Shut it." Zhou Mi warned. "Now don't say anything stupid, relax but don't relax too much, and please take this somewhat seriously." He then leaned in and threatened. "Ruin this and I will kill you."

Kibum had only felt a bit of fear, it was odd seeing Zhou Mi's real masculine side and was glad it wasn't often. He didn't say goodbye and watched as the man left, merely watching him until his eyes turned to the huge building before him.

He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked at his surroundings.

"How do I avoid this one?" He asked himself.

"Depends, what are you avoiding?" He looked from the corner of his eye at the person who answered his question.

"A job interview." He replied honestly, the man laughed.

"First time I've heard such an answer." The man arched his eyebrow. "Though you look like you just got out of a fight rather than getting ready for an interview."

Kibum huffed. "What friends do for one another." He said sarcastically, he looked over the man's casual appearance. "What are you up to?"

"That's a bit intrusive."

"So is answering a man's rhetorical question."

"It wasn't completely rhetorical." He replied. "And if you really want to avoid it so much, how about joining me for lunch?"

"...Isn't it a bit early for lunch?"

"Why? Have you already eaten?" The man gave a slanted look.

"Yes." Kibum answered. "Though we can still eat something, I'm not completely full."

The man patted his stomach. "I'm hungry too." He tilted his head as he laughed bashfully.

Kibum blinked at his childlike gesture, did grown adults do such gestures nowadays?

He followed him through the dwindling crowd. "Since I'm following a stranger, I might as well know your name." He prompted.

"Sungmin." He answered. "Yours?"

"Kibum." Sungmin nodded.

They seemed to reach his destination and once they entered, Kibum noted the many sweet chocolates and baked goods, the smell was heavenly but he furrowed his eyebrows.

Did this person really want sweets so early in the morning?

"Two scones, one vanilla cream and two strawberries please." Sungmin then turned to Kibum. "What would you like?"

That answered his question Kibum thought, he cringed as he looked at every item on the menu, each one as sickenly sweet as the next one. He then looked at the cashier and simply asked for. "Coffee please... Black." He added.

They sat in the booth in the corner as Sungmin rubbed his hands together, staring hungrily at the orders on the table. He used his fork and took a bite of the pastry, as he chewed he grinned and closed eyes in happiness. "Delicious." He commented.

Kibum could only stare blankly at him as he continued to eat his food. Unsure of what to think of him, someone this cute doesn't exist in the world. Even Zhou Mi's rather cute, yes he would admit to that, boyfriend has a twisted side to him. He examined him, wondering what else there was, what else there had to be.

Sungmin glanced at the coffee Kibum held in his hand. "Black coffee? Don't you need milk... Cream..." He watched in mild horror as Kibum gulped down the coffee. "Sugar?"

Kibum shook his head. "I like it bitter." He replied.

"Really?" Sungmin tilted his head. "Can I try it?"

Kibum nodded as Sungmin reached for his cup. He hesitated as he slowly tipped it and drank just a bit. However, that tiny bit was enough for Sungmin to immediately return the drink and cringed. He then gave a weak smile. "D-delicious."

Impossible, he thought, he somehow had the urge to pinch the his cheeks. But somehow he had to suppress that urge.

"Sadly this won't completely take up the time the interview takes place." Kibum muttered. "Have any other plans?"

Sungmin chewed his food slowly. "You don't mind spending time with a complete stranger?"

"I know your name and you know mine. We're far from complete strangers." He corrected. Sungmin chuckled, his eyes beaming just slightly.

Kibum couldn't help but not turn away from those eyes.

"How about a movie?" He asked.

Kibum tilted his head and looked up. "Why not?" Once Sungmin finished his food, they both left to the closest movie theater.

"Which?" Sungmin asked.

"Definitely not romance or comedy." He faced him. "You?"

Sungmin gave a slight pout as he faced him as well. "That eliminated everything I wanted to see."

He'll admit it, this guy was cute, beyond cute. But there had to be something more, was this a front? A phase? Possibly a sugar-rush? Too many possibilities.

Kibum gave in as he looked at his pleading look. "I'll live I guess." Sungmin jumped slightly in excitement. Kibum shook his head at the man's gestures, he was leaning more and more towards the sugar-rush one.

Once the two-hour movie was over, a little too long for Kibum's liking, his ring tone blared. Kibum looked at the caller-ID and cringed, knowing full well who it was.

Sungmin gave him a questioning look.

"That oh-so supportive friend." Kibum sighed as he answered it. "Yes?.... Yes, I'm waiting outside right now, so I'll call you later all right? Bye." He snapped the phone shut.

"You shouldn't lie to your friend."

"I'm not completely lying." Kibum gestured to the building that was still clearly in sight. "I am waiting outside."

"But not for an interview." Sungmin replied, he held his hands behind his back and looked at him. "Shouldn't you at least try for him? Sounds like he went through a bit to get you to."

Kibum lowered his eyes. "You can't guilt me into this."

Sungmin blinked and shrugged. "I'm not going to guilt you into anything."

"Right..." Kibum turned away, but he kept looking back at him. He was stubborn enough though, he wouldn't go and that was his decision.

So why was he currently back on the steps of the building instead of somewhere else as he preferred it?

"Just try." Sungmin insisted, Kibum narrowed his eyes but reluctantly agreed. Sungmin opened the door. "Let's go."

"How nice of you, coming to a stranger's job interview."

"I thought you said we weren't strangers?" Sungmin reminded as they walked side by side through the corridors.

"After making me do this, you've went back a step." Sungmin laughed. Once they reached the place within the building, Kibum turned to face Sungmin who kept a smile on his face.

"Good luck." He said cheerfully.

"...Yeah..." Kibum said, not as optimistically. He merely watched as Sungmin left the interview room and left him there to eye the door before him. He felt the need to bolt when the receptionist called him up. He forced his legs to move towards the door and enter inside, he noted that no one was in however and sighed in relief. Maybe no interviewer meant it could cancel on his own.

He sat in the seat, waiting when he heard the door open. He turned his head and widened his eyes at the man who entered.

Sungmin strolled in holding files in his hand, he switched his casual clothing for a suit as he took his place in the seat across from him.

"Hello Kibum-shi." Sungmin offered a smile. "How was your day today?

Kibum raised his eyebrows, it seems it was time for fake pleasantries and formalities. "Hello." He said curtly. "As for my day, I'd rather not repeat what has already been known."

"I hope it was a good day then." Sungmin said as he continued to examine the information.

"I'm still debating." Kibum said as he leaned back against his chair as he looked over the new Sungmin in front of him. Or at least the side he hadn't seen, he noted how different the air was than from his earlier self. He was childish and adorable earlier, and now here was replaced by a kind yet typical employee.

He was preferring the former.

Sungmin looked over the files in his hand and nodded as he placed them on the desk. "I'll be honest then-"

"Were you not before?" Kibum interjected.

"Though you have some questionable credentials and references, even at my friend's pleading." He locked eyes with him. "I'd rather not hire you for the job." Sungmin stated as he held his hands together and leaned slightly back on his chair.

"Oh really?" Kibum asked, failing to hide his sarcasm. He looked down at his hands. "I admit I don't know of too many employers who discourage people from going to their interviews."

"I wasn't discouraging, I just thought I would get to know you better outside this stifling setting."

Kibum raised an eyebrow. "You knew who I was?"

Sungmin raised his paper in his hand, his picture was on the upper right corner. "Every application comes with one."

"I see, and apparently you didn't like what you got to know." He shook his head. "If I had known, I would've gone with the horror film."

Sungmin tilted his head in the other direction, his smile hadn't faltered. "Care to know why I'm not hiring you?"

"Pray tell."

Sungmin was unfazed by his tone and continued to maintain his smile. "I discourage dating in the workplace and because it is also corporate policy." He explained simply, his eyes shifted casually until it rested on him once again. "Unless of course you so desperately need this job, then I'll withhold any advancements or offers, including those of special interests."

A motive. He hadn't expected that of all things.

Sungmin then leaned in just slightly. "And I did like what I got to know." He corrected as he locked eyes with him, noting a certain glint. "Just so you know."

Kibum arched an eyebrow to Sungmin's cunning smile. There was definitely more to this man than he thought.

"I guess..." He cleared his throat. "I could find another job." Kibum murmured.

Sungmin's smile widened. "Then I'll see you around, just not in my workplace." He added.

"Unless you want me to of course." Kibum said as his chair scooted back loudly, he didn't offer to shake his hand as he turned about the chair.

Sungmin eyed his movements. "I'll think about it." He reached into a small container, pulled a card and scribbled something on it. "I have another colleague who has some job openings." Sungmin called out as he handed it towards Kibum who swiped it from his hands. "I could ask him for a favor if you want me to."

Kibum pursed his lips. "That depends, is he cuter than you?"

"I wouldn't be calling him if he was."

Kibum laughed out loud as he headed towards the door. "An honest boss, you don't find much of those anymore."

"I'm sure you don't."

Kibum shook his head as he closed the door behind him, looking at the card in his hand. Completely professional by appearance, yet as he turned it to the other side he looked at the neatly written personal phone number.

He hummed to himself as he walked out of the building. It was quite odd really, cute was never his type but as he kept recalling the man, he found it wasn't such a bad thing. Especially someone as crafty as he was.

---

Later that day Zhou Mi entered the apartment and noted Kibum lying lazily on his couch.

"So how was the interview?" He didn't ask.

"Great." Kibum replied.

Zhou Mi grinned. "Then you got the job?!"

"Nope." Kibum said with a smile as he turned on his side to look at him.

Zhou Mi's smile faltered. "Then why are you smiling like that?"

"I won in the end." He leaned his head against his palm and held up his phone triumphantly. "Because I got the boss's phone number, you failed to mention how charming he is."

Zhou Mi couldn't argue, snap or even lecture. Instead he could do the only thing he was able to muster that moment.

He slapped himself on the head.
