La Belle France

Toulouse sits nestled in the south-west corner of France, and has some tremendous scenery right on her doorstep. As with so many trips, time limits what to see and do, but one of the places on the list was the Pyrenees. I had been here over 30 years ago, and loved it then. Your itinerary seems quite similar to the one we took earlier in the year. We spent a couple of nights at Gavarnie and went for a hike up into the mountains and down around the cirque. It was beautiful but also quite cold. Not long after the end of the snow season. We never did get a clear view of the Cirque and the waterfall though as it remained hidden in cloud cover. Beautiful part of France.

I am also amazed that the riverside beach is open already. It was under the flood water level and must have been burried under a load of mud?

I think we were mostly very lucky with the weather at Gavarnie, and as you can tell, we did manage to see the Cirque...it is such a beautiful part of the country. They were still having avalanches when we were there so getting close was off limits.

Brisbane has recovered amazingly well after the floods and is looking great.

What amazing scenery!!! One of these days I'm going to get back to traveling ... My time in Europe was always dictated by my show's itinerary. I just need to go to go ...

Thanks for sharing!

I know that for a lot of people there are time and financial constraints, but there really is nothing to beat travelling to new places. Hope you get there some day Neil.
