It hurts to see Jack go of to who knows where but I hope he finds the happiness eluding him so far as long as he is not hurt physically maybe he can heel his heart as well. I love Bobby, it must be very hard for him too but he did not turn against his dad, that is so important for Jack to at least know his son dose not hate him or is ashamed of him.
Thank you, and thank you for directing me to find chapter two.
Happy Holidays to you and looking forward for more of Jacks adventures.

Thank you for reading! Christmas has been nuts but I am working on the next chapter now. I wanted Jack to leave Childress in an un-sensational way: he knows he has to go, and ti is dangerous for him there, but he and Bobby are both able to handle the situation. Happy 2008!

I wanted to show Jack and Bobby with some level of disconnect between them, but also that Bobby is an okay young man who actually loves and respects his father: he doesn't just accept everything LD said about him. I am working on Ch. 3 now -- the story will take a turn!

Thank you for this wonderful Jack story. While I've always wished to see Jack and Ennis make a go of it together, the Ennis of this story doesn't deserve Jack at all. As long as he's ashamed and disgusted by what Jack is, he really needs to get out of Jack's life altogether. I hope Jack will find the peace and love he deserves. Randall is obviously not the right answer. Jack shouldn't try to contact him again.
Can't wait for Chapter 3. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Carole

Hi Carole,
I haven't been writing Ennis, at least not yet, so there may be some difference between what Jack believes Ennis thinks and what Ennis thought he meant. That said, their situation had become miserable, to the point that Jack's life was in danger. Randall basically just reminds him of his misery over Ennis, so that's not the answer. I think that Jack needs to try something completely different -- and hopefully what I have in mind isn't too out-there for people... :-) L.

I am enjoying this story so much. It seems like there are a lot of sad stories out there with dead!Jack, but without MO!Ennis. Although there is a lot of heartbreak in this story, I really am glad to see the Jack is making some good decisions. At least he's trying to find happiness and what's for him!

Although I want Ennis and Jack to always be together, Ennis just can't past his fears and whatever else may be holding him back.

Thank you so much for sharing this story! Happy holidays to you and yours!

Hi Teri,
Yes, part of my motivation in writing this story is to have Jack realizing that he'll literally lose his life waiting for Ennis to change. They aren't apart because of a lack of love between them, but Jack needs to try something else. RL has been too busy but finally the holidays are over, and I am able to work on Ch. 3. Happy new year, Lisa

Wow, what will he get into now? No dreams left, but not deep in a ditch at least.

Jack hit the highway going north and looked forward to nothing.  Only one thought gave him a tiny bit of comfort: at least he wasn’t leaving in a box.

Sometimes when we truly have no expectations, life can really change. Jack is leaving Texas with virtually nothing but will be getting into something unexpected... and dirrty (at least I hope readers find it so). Happy new year, :-) L.
