Those of you who have twitter will already know that my lack of updates is due to worry and woes regarding Merlin's other eye. I knew I'd spoken too soon in my last post! Don't feel obliged to read this, just keeping you up to date!

Hopefully, it's going to be fine... )

Thanks so much! I'm so sorry that you're in the same boat! D: D: D: It's such an awful feeling! I really hope your cat gets better soon! It's so scary when animals are ill because they can't tell you how they feel, or what's wrong. :(

Merlin seems to be on the mend now, thank goodness. I'm just so relieved it was treatable. When we went with the first problem in January the vet said that surgery was definitely a very good option. I'm so glad I tried the steroids first!

Thanks for the good thoughts, sending them right back at you and your lovely cat. ♥

*hugs* Oh dearest, googling always shows you the worst pictures first. I don't blame you for FREAKING OUT especially as it was about your poor puppy. Also take care of yourself as well! You can't take care of pup, if you're weak from hunger. <3<3

Google is terrible for health stuff, isn't it? People only post on forums and message boards when terrible things have happened, no one goes on to say "oh hey, it wasn't a problem after all..." and even though I know this, I still get sucked in! XD I'm always being told off for consulting "Dr" Google.

Thanks so much! We're both on the mend now! I have my appetite back and Merlin's eyes are looking better. ♥

Thank you so much, he really does seem to be on the mend now. I think it will take time, the steroid course is for six weeks, but he's getting there! I'm just so relieved it's treatable! *hugs*

I know that worrying feeling! I'd also make a terrible mother of human babies, because I panic a lot. Unfortunately, in the case of my little Clare I was spot-on, though she's still holding on. I hope that Merlin just has allergies or something and will be fit as can be for the rest of a long life!

I'm glad I'm not alone in panicking, but I'm so sorry that you have to go through it too! Poor little Clare, she's such a fighter. My heart really goes out to you. My Morgan was so ill for a long time and it's so hard. *hugs*

yes, hopefully this is just a weird one off. The vet says that no one knows what triggers the problems that he has. He might need to continue with the steroids for the rest of his life, or they might clear up his condition completely. I'm OK with either of those, things seemed so bleak in January when the vet suggested surgery! I'm so glad I opted for the steroids first!

Having them sick for so long is so painful (as you well know). I could deal with having woken up and finding her gone because I'd have no choice and no options but to deal with it, yet with this I feel like a bad mother because I can't fix it and make it all better, never mind the stress of daily care.

You were very smart to go with non-surgical treatment first! You can always do surgery later if it's needed, but you can't un-do it, and surgery and recovery can be so hard on their little bodies. It was wise to start small with something that succeeded, even if it's something he'll need for a long time. I have a friend whose dog was very ill for a while, and he thought the worst would happen; fortunately, his vet wanted to exhaust all options before doing anything irreversible because it turned out that he was just prone to inner-ear infections! All the weakness, the falling over, the lack of appetite -- cured with ear drops once a day. It was once a day forever, but it did the trick!

That's completely it, not being able to help makes it so hard. But you are helping her and caring for her and making her days comfortable. ♥
