Those of you who have twitter will already know that my lack of updates is due to worry and woes regarding Merlin's other eye. I knew I'd spoken too soon in my last post! Don't feel obliged to read this, just keeping you up to date!

Hopefully, it's going to be fine... )

Have you taken him to get checked out by a doc? Is that an option for you? :( If you were local my mom could look at him for you, and she'd have a good idea what is up with him.

Ahh, that's so kind. Yes, when our local vet couldn't help us with his first eye problem, he sent us to see a specialist. So we've been going for check-ups every three weeks. His eyes do seem to be improving now, thank goodness! ♥

I'm so, so glad the vet thinks there's nothing to worry about. Poor little Merlin's going to be so confused when no more cream's being rubbed on his face. Haha.

Thank you! Yes, it was such a relief! But he kept me waiting for AGES whilst he typed up his findings on the computer! :-O

Merlin's pretty used to the cream now, he's stopped curling up like a dead spider at least! And he gets a treat every time we have to do it. So I have a feeling he's going to miss being spoiled!

Do you guys have Lucas' Pawpaw ointment or equivalent out there?
We use it on us and the pets all the time. it's basically vaseline with pawpaw extract I think.
They use it at the RSPCA and the boarding kennels we used to go to. It really does seem to clear things up well. Might help with his nose. We used it on Missy's infected tail and it helped a lot. We put it on them anytime they have an open wound of any sort because they go running about and I'm always worried they'll get infected.

I can send you a little tube if you like. It's not expensive.

That is so unbelievably kind of you! Thank you so much for the offer, but I couldn't possibly let you send it all this way! I've taken your advice and ordered a tube from a UK seller! It sounds perfect, just the thing! As you say, it'll be so handy to carry in my bag whilst we're out walking, he's such a fearless soldier and is always getting scratched in brambles and such like! ♥

Awwww poor Merlin! I hope he's alright. Hopefully it's just an allergic reaction to something he came across in his adventures.

Simon was diagnosed with potential lupus a few weeks ago. His nose was all bloody and scabby and he was acting very ill. Turns out he just has a grass and mosquito allergy. He had too much exposure to both of them and his allergic reaction got an infection in it. I'm really glad, because lupus would be pretty awful as I'm sure you already know!

PS: I do the thing about ghosts too.

Yes, that was my first hope just after Christmas, I figured he'd caught his eye on a leaf or something and it had just blistered up, but it just dragged on and on and is this weird tissue thing. Just a random thing with no known cause. Even the vet has no idea what caused his iris to swell - I didn't even know it could! But the steroid cream seems to be taking the swelling down, on ALL his ailments! Just have to tackle that scabby nose now! I have high hopes for this Pawpaw ointment! :D

Poor Simon. I am so glad it was an allergy! And one that isn't likely to rear its head too often. :(

I'm such an idiot about ghosts! It doesn't happen very often any more, but if I feel spooked I will just lie there completely still and peer out into my room, hoping I won't see anything untoward!

Poor little guy. I'm glad the cream is working. It must be hard to apply to his eye. Paw paw cream even helped my dog who was suffering from cancer and organ failure. I hope you ordered a tube for yourself too! Become an Australian by smearing it on your lips at all times.

We are hoping it improves once the mosquito season is over.

Hahaha same. One of my friends commented on my LJ a while ago with this. The house in question is just round the corner from mine. They look very similar, so I presume they are the same age. I cannot unthink what she told me some nights! So paranoid.

Thank you! Me too! It was a rough couple of days, I just overreact so badly over things like this! I'm so glad he makes you smile. He walked past a lady at the bus stop today in such a goofy manner that she laughed out loud. He really does seem to have a gift!

Ugh. Ghosts! I'm glad I'm not alone! I remember staring and staring at this black shape outside my door last year, it was as tall as my door frame and just...I don't know...it was blocking the light where the light wasn't usually blocked. But it was there for ages, and I thought "if it was a ghost, it wouldn't have been there so long" and finally closed my eyes for a second. When I opened them IT HAD GONE! OMG. And there was no one in the house with me, my parents were away. I was pretty freaked out. I actually keep a paranormal diary on my phone these days. Mostly it's just smells - struck matches tonight!
