GD&TOP Album Review (Tracks 6-11)

My thoughts on the album is pretty solid now, just waiting to be put down on paper.  Go go go~

I love the club crawl interpretation of the album, I hadn't thought of it in that way before :D

Pass the Parcel! I loved that game as a kid. When I was writing the review, I wanted to use the analogy that Donkey used in Shrek, which is that TOP had many layers, like an onion. But I felt that maybe that would spoil the whole moodiness of the review :D If we could, I would want MVs for all the songs in this album, kind of like how Jay Chou used to do with his albums, but that was because he was so interested in directing and is such a huge narcissist. /digress

Oh Yeah is definitely on the bottom of my list, since I have very minimal feelings of thrill with this song already, but having Minzy and CL sing to Bom's parts yesterday helped a little bit, I felt it refreshed the whole song to an extent...

I have already written more than 4000 words in this review (if only I could have gotten my essays done so quickly lol), so right now I am feeling all worded out, but I loved reading your response (and so timely too!) My only hope is that I would like the Big Bang album as much as this one. :)

The whole album in video format = my idea of heaven :D

Oh Yeah sounds nice but is a little too repetetive. I enjoyed Minzy singing the chorus, but it still didn't make me love the song. I don't dislike it, it just doesn't do much for me.

GD and TOP are the two BB members I'm most interested in, and I enjoyed their album so much, so I hope I won't be disappointed in the group's album when (if...) it comes out. While GD has said he wants the album to be memorable and different, it will still be more mainstream kpop than their duo album. But we'll see - I don't want to start worrying about it before we even have a proper date!!

I will probably pay 10x what I paid for the album for a video format one.

Yeah, I know what you mean about being most interested in GTOP. They are my biases without a doubt, and I worry that this album has spoiled me for good (Well if there is a Vol 1, there must be a Vol 2! /fingerscrossed). But I trust that GD and (to a lesser extent) YG knows what they are doing, so yeah... I don't want to start worrying also.

I'm more of a lurker, don't comment much, but this review deserves a comment.
I was reading an interview with TOP, he was talking about Oh Mom - “Oh mom” is based on an actual episode. I can’t exactly detail on that but basically it’s my letter to one friend who is very, very sick. It’s a very meaningful piece for me which wasn’t planned in the track list but got included because I wanted it to be there badly.
I wish we could figure it out, I feel like if we knew what he was talking about there, we might appreciate it more.

3) We agree on many points about this album. You know, I did also point out to you that "Obsession" reminded me of "She's Gone", but I'm not sure you read that comment, so *shrugs*.
4) I'm sitting at the edge of my chair nibbling my fingernails that there's going to be more GTOP rock. Because GTOP rock rocks (yes, I just wanted to say that XDD).
5) I know about OH MOM being about a sick friend. But it all depends on who that "friend" is and in what sense (s)he is "sick". I have a few theories, some of which strike even me as ridiculous... but there you go, that's a topic for another entry sometime. :P
6) How much was the album?? Because if it's under 200HKD I'm thinking of getting the blue as well.

I think I need to buy you a present for the Obsession review and explanation. I've read a few translations of the song but I really felt like I was missing something. Speaking a language other than english myself I know how hard it is to translate to english sometimes. Those little intricacies are lost and sometimes the whole meaning behind a sentence can come out warped or just completely different from the intended meaning.

I understand the lyrics a lot better now and I listen to the song in a new light because of it. SO THANK YOU!

I'm happy to see you also loved 'What do you want me to do?" because I have had that song looping for ages. It's so much fun and the lyrics are funny in a black comedy kind of way. It totally reaches out to my eastern european roots lol. It's a shame so many people overlook it because of the style of the song but it's one of my favourites.

Again, you're amazing for doing this review. I bow down

PS. To answer a thing you mentioned on your tumblr, I speak only Chinese and Japanese (other than English), but I also looked at some Japanese trans for Obsession.
