My mom left today after her extended stay in sunny Cedar Falls, IA. It's not that the house is done yet, but she's got a number of small contractors lined up for all the small jobs, and they're reasonably set like dominoes, set to fall into place one after the other. So I find myself...
...in an interesting situation. Monday I up and quit my job. No two weeks notice, no stopping at Go to collect $200. (That'll come in the mail with Direct Deposit for my last two paychecks.) So all day at work yesterday I had Jonathan Coulton's "Re: Your Brains" stuck in my head. It got to the point I actually scrawled the lyrics down in my training notebook. A real bed...
So we've been cleaning the house lately in hopes of getting some real furniture in here. The three items of note would be the couch Laura's parents have been promising us since before last Christmas, a new kitchen table (been making payments on it as we go, it's a really nice one), and a bed. The Perfect Day...
Yesterday was beautiful.
I mean it, really! We woke up earlier than usual and got ourselves dressed and off to the Amana Colonies for the Renfair there. It's nothing really big, only around for one weekend and made out of tents (not too many tents either). Since I started work at the warehouse, (and subsequently found my job to involve hours of standing around, waiting for something to happen...) I've taken to studying the characters around me.
