I find new years resolution don't work. Least on gregorian and julian calendar new years because its the middle of winter and the energies are not resurgent enough. I find resolutions made at the start of spring are more likely to come to fruition. Start of spring can be chinese new year, start of vaisakh month on indian lunar calender, spring equinox, you see your first daffodil of the year, first bloom, or just maybe the weather feels springly. Whatever you feel like, but just try and make a resolution at the start of what you feel is Spring. See if spring resolutions work better than those made in winter. Even in western ancient societies, spring was considered the start of the new year because of the new life coming at that time.
