“Where are we going?” Toshiya asked, as he and Shinya followed behind Kyo down the road.
“Where do you think?” Kyo snapped, still not too friendly with the ideal of another tag a long.
“I don't know...that's why I asked.” Toshiya replied sarcastically.
Kyo rolled his eyes and picked up his pace so there was at least a good three feet between him and the younger two. Toshiya looked at Shinya raising his eyebrows. Shinya just shrugged pulling Tina out of it's little bag he had slung over his shoulder.
“She is cute.” Toshiya mumbled to Shinya.
“Thanks. I found her a little bit before you showed up. It's a good thing I did or some zombie would've made a snack out of her.” The younger said petting the white and tan kitten lightly. “You wanna hold her?”
“Sure.” Toshiya said shaking his head. “It's a good thing you insisted on keeping her considering tight ass wanted you to leave her.”
“Kyo is just like that.” Shinya mumbled not wanting to take sides.
“Well being a natural dick explains why it's just you two. How do you put up with that!?” Toshiya asked lightly scratching Tina behind her ear.
“We just met.” Shinya continued to mumble.
“Well that explains it. I can barely stand him.”
“Then why did you insist on coming dip shit!” Kyo shouted stopping and turning around.
“I didn't asshole!” Toshiya shouted back shoving Tina into Shinya's arms.
“Then why the fuck are you here!?”
“Shinya wanted me to come!”
“Who gives a fuck what Shinya wants!”
“Well Shinya wants you both to shut up and be quiet!” Shinya shouted over the two arguing men.
Both Kyo and Toshiya looked at the younger man.
“Zombie's are attracted to sound and you two are yelling, therefore attracting them, besides you're hurting my ears.” Shinya continued.
“You of all people are telling me to shut up!?” Kyo shrieked.
“You two are acting childish.”
“No I'm not!” Both Kyo and Toshiya shouted at the same time.
“Point and case.” Shinya said in a snooty tone and walked pass the two to continue forward.
“Hey what did I tell you about just walking and not paying attention?” Kyo asked Shinya.
The younger man only shrugged.
“I said I wasn't going to save your ass, remember?”
Shinya ignored him.
“You're a jerk.” Toshiya told Kyo then sped walked to catch up with Shinya.
“You guys don't even know where we're going!” Kyo yelled after the two walking away.
“And you do!?” Toshiya yelled back.
“Yes!” Kyo said throwing his arms out a bit by his sides, speed walking to catch up.
“Then tell us this oh so magical destination you have in mind, Kyo.” Toshiya and Shinya stopped and looked at Kyo.
“It doesn't matter where it is.” Kyo told them.
“Then when will get there?” Toshiya asked.
“Look no one told you two idiots you have to come along with me.”
“Kyo, just tell us.” Shinya whined while putting Tina back in his bag.
“By night fall. Hopefully. If you two assholes will stop with your fucking nonsense.”
“You're nonsense.” Toshiya mumbled.
Shinya quickly elbowed Toshiya in the side, “Stop it.”
Kyo passed the two taking the lead again. After around what seemed an hour of walking and Shinya humming a familiar car appeared in the distance. Kyo squinted at it, it was indeed the car that belong to the old man and his two adult children.
“Hey Kyo, is that..” Shinya trailed off as Kyo started to jog towards the car.
Toshiya and Shinya looked at each other before jogging after Kyo. They caught up to Kyo, who was now walking up to the car. Kyo motioned for them to stay back as he got closer to the car. The driver's door was standing wide open. Kyo looked in to see a body hanging half way out of the passenger's door on it's back, it was the old man, missing an arm, throat and shoulder devoured. Kyo gagged at the sight, he turned to see Shinya standing behind him, tears forming in his eyes.

“Shinya,” Kyo grabbed him by the shoulders, pushing him backwards away from the scene. “Stay back here with Toshiya, okay.”

Shinya shook his head yes before lowering it so his hair was hiding his face.
Kyo walked back to the scene and looked into the car. Glancing at the dashboard he saw the gas needle was on empty. They must have ran out of gas and got attacked after they pulled over. Kyo walked over to the other side of the car, wondering where the son and daughter went. Off the side of the road, there were legs leading into the forest.

Toshiya watched as Kyo walked into the woods. “Whats he doing?”
Shinya looked up from the floor to where Kyo was. “Where'd he go?”
“He went into the woods.”
Shinya shrugged. “You think he's finally leaving us behind?”
“Doubt it. Shinya, did you know those people?”
Shinya shook his head yes, “They were the ones that dropped us off at that house.” Shinya's voice shook with sadness. “If only they would've came in with us!” Shinya cried.
“Shinya,” Toshiya said wrapping his arms comfortingly around the younger mans shoulders. “It's not your fault.”
Even though Toshiya was unsure of his words, not knowing why Kyo and Shinya had split away from the others, he still thought it would help comfort the younger man.
“But I still feel like it's my fault for not insisting we stick together.” Shinya cried into Toshiya's shoulder.
“Shinya, please stop crying. Everything happens for a reason.”
The younger man looked up at Toshiya's face catching a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye. When he was finally able to make out what the blur was he immediately pushed Toshiya away and was in turn tackled to the ground by the bitch from the car.
By the torn flesh on her face and left arm, the glazed white irises, blackened teeth, and snarls coming from her, it was clear she was now a zombie.
Shinya fell back hard on the gray road, his bag slapping Tina hard against the ground. The girl snarled and bit at Shinya trying to make a meal out of the youngest male.
“Toshiya! Help me!” Shinya cried in terror as he struggled against the stronger zombie.
Toshiya took a few steps back and fell down on his butt and just stared.
“Toshiya! Help!” Shinya continued to yell. “Please! Toshiya, Help me!”
The girls teeth clamping shut just above the skin on Shinya's chin. Drool dripping off her torn lips and onto her helpless victim.
“Toshiya!” He cried desperately.
Shinya managed a quick glance over to Toshiya to see him sitting there watching, stunned in horror.
“Kyo!” The younger man screamed once he knew Toshiya wasn't going to help him. “KYO! HELP!” He shouted at the top of his lungs.
With in seconds the girl was kicked off her victim and head beaten in by a crow bar.
“Shinya, are you okay?” Kyo asked kneeling beside the younger man. “Were you scratched or bitten.”
Shinya wiped the zombie saliva off his face with his sleeve, then patted his torso quickly, before running his hands into his hair and looking at Kyo with wide horrified eyes. He shook his head no.
Kyo stood up and turned around. Eyes locking onto Toshiya who was still sitting on his rump in shock. Anger burned in the short mans eyes.
“You son of a bitch! You were just going to sit there and watch him die!?”
Toshiya shakily looked up at Kyo, his eyes as wide as Shinya's. He didn't say anything.
Kyo stomped over to the paralyzed man and grabbed his short locks with his free hand, pulling them hard.
“You stupid mother fucker.” Kyo growled pulling harder on the younger mans hair causing Toshiya to slightly cry out in pain.
“Kyo stop.” Shinya told the older man.
Kyo looked at the youngest man still sitting down with his hands in his hair.
“You almost died because of him.” Kyo shouted.
“Kyo hurting him won't help anyone! Let him go.” Shinya said dropping his hands from his light brown locks.
“You trust people too easily Shinya.” Kyo said pushing Toshiya away. “And that will cause you to meet your demise.” He growled.
“As long as you're around I'll be fine evidently.”
Kyo didn't know what to say. Shinya had basically told him that his survival rests on Kyo's shoulders. Something Kyo, himself, didn't think he'd be able to protect. The short man glanced at Shinya's bag and seen it move.
“Is your cat okay?” he asked in a mumbled voice.
Shinya quickly turned his attention to Tina who had viciously hit the ground.
“She's fine.” Shinya answered after quickly checking over the small feline.
“Shinya.” Toshiya said in a weak voice.
“You shut up!” Kyo yelled raising his crowbar as a sign that he means it.
Toshiya slightly flinched before continuing, “I'm so sorry. I . . . I . . .”
“It's fine.” Shinya assured him as he stood up. “Can we just keep walking?”
Kyo shook his head yes, “Are we still allowing this chicken shit to come?”
Shinya looked at Toshiya then at Kyo, “Of course.”
Kyo rolled his eyes. He looked down at the zombie he had just killed then back up at Shinya.
“You know she got what she deserved.” He said stepping over her towards Shinya.
“That's mean Kyo.” Shinya mumbled.
“What? The bitch reaped in death what she sowed in life.”
Shinya raised his eyebrows, pursed his lips and nodded his head slightly in agreement with the older
man.
Kyo smiled and started walking again, but stopped when no one followed. He turned around to see Shinya helping Toshiya to his feet, who hugged the younger man in a tight hug. Kyo rolled his eyes and continued to walk onward.
“Come on girls, we gotta keep moving.”

The sun started to set as the group kept their pace down the road.
“Kyo,” Shinya whined, dragging his feet. “I'm hungry. We've haven't ate since this morning. And I'm tired, where is this place at you said we were going to?”
Kyo sighed and looked up at the darkening sky. “Looks like we're going to have to stop and make camp.”
Toshiya let out an over exaggerated sigh. “I thought you said we'd be there by tonight!”
“Well that bullshit slowed us down! It's not my fault all you guys want to do is fuck around!”
Toshiya rolled his eyes, “So where are we staying then?”
Kyo didn't answer he just turned and started walking into the woods. Shinya and Toshiya following closely behind.
“Kyo I don't like being in the woods.” Shinya whispered to the one leading them.
“Then why the fuck were you apart of a camp that was in the woods?” Kyo bit.
“I didn't have a choice.” Shinya mumbled. “Why do you think I forced you to let me come with you?”
The older man took his question as a rhetorical one and didn't answer.
After a few moments of silence with the exception of the ground crunching beneath their feet, Kyo looked over his shoulder and raised his eyebrow.
“What?” Shinya asked looking back at Kyo then over at Toshiya.
“You're quiet.” Kyo answered turning his head back around.
“So?”
“You're not even humming.”
Shinya didn't say anything back.
After a few more moments of silence Kyo stopped, “Here's good. We'll take sleeping shifts through out the night.” He said throw the duffel bag of food onto the leaf covered ground.
“Kyo I don't want to stay in the woods. I want to stay some place safe.” Shinya said clutching the bag, that held his precious Tina, to his chest.
“No where is safe anymore Shinya, not even in a house.” Toshiya told the younger man.
“Don't worry your thick lips about it Shinya, we'll be fine.” Kyo assured him. “As long as that fucktard can at least scream if he sees something rather than sitting on his ass basically presenting himself on a silver platter.”
“I said I was sorry.” Toshiya mumbled.
Kyo shot his eyes towards his newest tag-a-long.
“I said it was okay.” Shinya quickly said before Kyo could say what was going threw his mind.

It wasn't long before the three had a small fire going and two cans of beans sitting on the fire to heat up.
It was quiet, a pleasure that hadn't graced Kyo's ears since he decided to help Shinya.
“Why have you stopped humming” Kyo finally asked Shinya after his curiosity grew.
Shinya looked up from the cans on the fire and at the oldest male, “I figure it's time to give that up.”
“But you said yourself . . .”
“I know what I said.” Shinya said cutting him off.
Toshiya looked at Shinya then at Kyo, “What did you say?”
“It's nothing,” Shinya said shifting slightly on the hard ground.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Kyo just blurted out.
Shinya returned his eyes to the cooking food.
“Shinya, it's alright you can tell us.” Toshiya said trying to get the suddenly closed off younger male to open up. “We've all done things we're not proud of , that's why we're alive.”
“He didn't do anything bad today idiot.” Kyo scolded Toshiya.
“You don't know, it could've triggered something.” Toshiya bit back.
The small camp fell quiet again.
“When I was young,” Toshiya started. “I learned running from my problems was an easier than to deal with them. It's something I've done almost my entire life.”
Both Kyo and Shinya looked at the other man sitting with them. Toshiya was staring into the fire.
“When this all started I was scared and I wanted to run, so I went to the one place that had always been a safe haven for me, my parents house.” Toshiya lightly laughed. “And when I got there my mom had her arm wrapped up and she was crying. She told me to take my two younger siblings and run, and that I was to protect them at all costs. I kept asking where my father was but she wouldn't tell me, she just threw a backpack full of food at me and told me to go.” Toshiya crossed his legs and sat forward still staring at the fire. “I tried to get her to come but she said she couldn't. She started pushing my siblings and I out the door. She gave me the keys to her car and told us to be careful and that she loved us. I could see this sort of glazed look in her eyes. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. But I took my brother and sister and got in the car. I did what she told me to. Though my form of protection was just running and dragging them along. And early this morning, when I actually needed to protect them, I ran.” Toshiya looked down. “I could hear their screams as I ran, my heart kept telling me to go back, to do something, but my brain wouldn't listen.”
“How older were they?” Shinya asked.
“My brother was sixteen and my sister was thirteen.” Toshiya mumbled.
Kyo looked at Shinya, “I actually preferred your humming.”
