Traveling can be lonely business

Perhaps that is why they named the guide ¨Lonely Planet¨. I am in Puerto Escondido. It is a beach town with several beaches stetching across the area. Many foreigners and among them a ton of surfers ( Read more... )

when i bussed into mexico, my best friend and i had no idea where we were going or what we were doing, we just knew there were too many pretty names on the map between where we were and guatemala.
we kept staring at puerto escondido and saying, what a beautiful name, maybe we should go there. we talked about it for days. finally our third travel partner vetoed it, and we never went.

i'm really happy for the updates from you - i rarely look at this website anymore, but international travels make it worth it.

when are you back in the country? i'm travelling right now, i'll be on the west coast in a few weeks...

Puerto Escondido is truly one of the pretty names. And a nice place, too. I found a little piece of heaven on a tiny beach a hill away from the main drag. It really all depends on what bothers you and what makes you feel blissful the balance is whether you would like such a place.

I am now at a more remote beach, which feels hundreds of miles away but is only an hour on the bus difference, the name of which I think is beautiful in a secretive windy lush way -- Mazunte.

I would so very much like to see you on this year. I will be in San Francisco for most of the first week of August, from around the 2nd to the 6th I think. Where on the west coast and when will you be?

I now know exactly what you mean. Traveling alone can really fucking lonely. I can only imagine that feeling is exacerbated in a foreign country. Well, sometimes Alaska feels like a foreign country. I am thinking about you often and how everything is going for you down there.

I think we are having similar emotional responses to our trip experience so far. Parts of Alaska have been truly breathtaking and amazing, but I've had my fair share of shittiness too. I will elucidate later. And thanks for hooking me up with Poli and Sabree. I think I might have overstayed my welcome with them...

Hope you have more great moments and days and you get home safe. xoxoxo

Hearing from you is giving me the warm fuzzies. I can´t wait to talk to you about our travels when I get back. You are just about home, no?

And you will need to tell me ALL about Poli and Sabree s lives there. No way you overstayed your welcome with them. I bet they loved you.
