Puja for Kali ma -- Baton Rouge, LA

On November 26, 2010 at 5 p.m. (for Thanksgiving) there will be a public ceremony held to honor the Hindu goddess Kali ma. This service is called 'puja' or 'pooja.' Out of curiosity, why would wearing black be inappropriate?

ETA: I wish I was home in Memphis, cause I might actually drive down for that.

Wow. I'm surprised (pleasantly) to hear you would drive so far. Don't know if its closer to Atlanta for you, but there is a temple dedicated to Shiva there and they do puja for Durga on a pretty regular basis. You're still welcome, though :)

Oh, the black inappropriate. I think it has to do with black being Her color.
