Here is my dilemma: The camp I am teaching (more on that later) has a whale watch planned for Friday. We have to take a two hour bus ride to Plymouth, and we catch the boat there. I have been diligently pumping these last few weeks during the day for Mireille, who has done quite well in my absence. But I have no idea how I am going to be able ( Read more... )

I've never been whale watching, so I don't know the safety of that. I did take my oldest son on canoes at a fairly young age. I'd assume you would have a lifejacket on your baby in case something unimaginable happened.

Would there be someone else available to help watch or play with Mireille if you had to be teaching something? Or is your job while there fairly flexible?

If you don't take her, would the goal be to pump just enough to not leak all over the place?

In thinking about this, I've realized that I'm much less concerned about the actual whale watch. It's getting there and the bus ride that I am mostly worried about. I'm thinking what I'll do is follow the bus up in my car.

The kids bring an adult with them, so really my job is to hang out and enjoy it. :) There may be one or two kids without chaperones, but then usually a parent of a friend will take them under his or her wing. And I'll wear M in the sling.

If I don't take her, I'll have to pump enough to feed her on Monday. Right now we are on a day to day basis with pumping. Whatever I pump one day feeds her the next. Unfortunately there is no leeway on that.
