Derek Hale character study. Man of the awesome bone structure, kitty eyes and weird ears. A lot of fun to draw except for the stubble. Stubble is...unpleasant to draw.

I can relate so well to your stubble angst--I never enjoy drawing that, either--but you pulled this off fantastically. Heck, this entire sketch is fantastic! I'm once again in awe of your shading, and I love how much life there is in the eyes...

Thanks so much. You always manage to make me feel really special and forget all about those messed up Castiel-sketches that ended up in my garbage bin ;).

The eyes were done with B-pencils for contrast by the way. Next project might be trying my hand a charcoal again. The last attempt was...interesting. Most of it ended up on my hands instead of on the picture. Have you ever worked with charcoal? (Also, yay for going completely off topic ;))

I've tried charcoal in the past, but don't use it anymore. Since all my art ends up getting inked over and digitally colored, I just use regular, ol' pencils all the time now, haha. Good luck with your next charcoal attempt!

Okay, that makes sense of course. So far I really love my regular old pencils but I haven't yet found my "one true medium".
