As I experience my first winter weather in America, I begin to wonder how I ever survived in Russia. Last night I went to bed with three different layers of shirts on, including a sweatshirt, and slept under a down blanket and a wool blanket. I remained, however, still quite cold. Thus is the life of the cold-blooded with poor circulation.

Today I walked into the supermarket and purchased the joy of all joys.

Today I received a cookbook in the mail, but it was in Spanish. This was a large disappointment for me. I am at last becoming better at reading English and now I receive things that are in Spanish.
