[At last. Peaceful, mostly sunny. No sign of the moon, or masks, or costumes.

...And Nephry is moving through the plaza at the pace and with the general stiff gait of an old woman.

Fitting, she thinks.

Near the fountain she sits on a bench, opening the journal on her lap. She's never been one to make announcements too personal, or to call unnecessary ( Read more... )

You don't find the colder air to be refreshing?

Does it remind you of Auldrant, Nephry?

Only in the winter. And even then...the air feels different here.

I think I know what you mean. [Luceti, despite its appearance, was far different from the world she knew and grew up in.]

Where are you right now?

[The senshi of Water is also Ice and Snow; she loves it.]

I like the snow quite a bit. Winter is a favorite season of mine.

Mine, as well. Does it snow often in your home?

You could say that, but the snow doesn't stay very often. There's just a little bit. Unless you're in the mountains.

So it must not be very heavy. What are the mountains like?

Don't the trees look beautiful covered in snow? Plus the type of atmosphere snow tends to bring is all so peaceful and calming. Of course warmer weather is also very enjoyable.

[There's a pause as she considers how to actually answer the question.]

It's very difficult to pick between a winter wonderland and a tropical paradise. Both are enjoyable for their own reasons.

[But a tropical anything would be so hot all the time.]

I agree, about the trees. There's nothing quite like that kind of stillness, is there?

[And that's what would make it so good! The heat is wonderful!]

I think there's very little that could compare to that sort of setting. What's more, if it starts to snow whilst you're surrounded by so many white-washed trees, then you have an image off of a Christmas card right there!

I had never heard of "Christmas" before living here.

[Heat is not wonderful. Heat is hot. Stifling, choking.]

Well, I guess it depends..? It isn't very fun to go out when it's really cold and you feel like you're just freezing up, but I do like the snow! It's a lot of fun to play around in it, after all.

Where I live, it snows for all but a month or two of the year. You get used to it.

... The entire year?!

[ She sounds rather surprised. Of course she knows that on the North and South pole it snows a lot too, but to actually hear that from someone.. ]

Don't you get cold?

Oh, trust me, we dress for the weather.

[Also her year in her home is 760-ish days long.]

May I presume it doesn't work that way for you?
