My sister got married. Not to the chorus of our ancestral rite nor even to the sound of bad organ music; hell I would have taken a Baptist choir. No my dear darling beloved sister got married in the office of the district magistrate. My brother and his girlfriend were in attendance. That is all. Now kids I have issues with this. Lots of issues

Does your sister still go to liturgy at all? Do you think she may ever solemnize her marriage? I dare guess that Mackenzie, having no saint's name, was not baptized in the Church, but do correct me if I err.

I do sympathize quite a bit. My own extended family has followed much the same route. I do think you make a good point about marriage. Why wasn't the Religious Right working so vehemently to save the sanctity of marriage years ago?

To their credit, there are some states that have passed legislation in recent years to try to curb the surging tide of divorce, but far fewer than those that have passed amendments to forbid same-sex civil unions.

While I don't agree with you theologically on some of these matters (as previous posts have witnessed), I can easily concede to your points politically.

My cousin's daughter just got pregnant at age 19. The father is still in high school. This birth of a third-cousin might be an ordinary failing (I don't fault my friend Carl for having a child early) if it were not a family tradition. My cousin, the mother of this girl, was pregnant with her first child at age 19. My aunt, the mother of this same cousin, was pregnant with her first child at 19.

As to your feelings on the marriage, you know I agree with you there.
