Christmas has changed considerably since those days of my childhood when we would go out to the woods and chop down an old cedar tree, bedraggled and thin of branch, smelling richly of pungent cedar, festoon it with glass ornaments, pile presents beneath it and in the company of brothers, great aunts and grandparents rip into their paper with
