LJ Idol Week Zero - Earthly delights

Mar 10, 2014 18:07

For someone who prefers routine, is generally anxious about trying new things, and loves spending time indoors, I'm easily the most transient member of my family. This is partly because I recognize these tendencies in myself and try to do whatever I can not to succumb to them, and partly because I keep falling for the rugged, outdoorsy-types. I' ( Read more... )

How wonderful to be moving into your new self. And that part of the country is beautiful - I miss Victoria!

Ohh I just love Vancouver Island :) I was definitely ready to start a new adventure though after being there for five years, although I must say it's strange not being near the ocean anymore!

Reading this, I am so, so glad that relationship is over. That must be just a huge relief.

I liked the tone of this very much, and I very much understand wanting to become your own person (and learning who that is) without the constant scrutiny of the rest of the world.

The Lodge and its location sound fascinating, though they would make currently participating in Idol a challenge!

It really, really is. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, and we spent several months living in the same 50 person community after it happened, which made everything more painful and intense for both of us. I stuck with my decision, though, and I'm so glad that I did because I am so much happier now because of it. Looking forward to writing more about it and getting all my thoughts down.

The Lodge really really is a beautiful place and I am glad the experiences I had there aren't tainted by the emotional turmoil I was going through during my last season there. I think I'm going to include pictures for most of my entries, because I have them just sitting on a harddrive, and because it's so hard to properly convey the beauty of the place when it's just so much easier to see for yourself :)

This was beautifully written. I can picture all of it in my head. It's good you were able to finally break away from that negative relationship and find something more positive. I wish I'd figured things out so quickly at your age.

BTW, I tried to read your Week 1 entry, and it was locked.

Thank you so much. I was toying with scrapping this and scrapping this whole enterprise of returning to Idol but I'm really glad that I didn't. I think stream-of-consciousness writing is the way I can best describe all of the emotions that I want to write about and so I'm just typing with my eyes closed and imagining everything as it was this past year. It's also very helpful having my old journals with me from that time to help me remember everything I was feeling.

Thanks for the heads up! I realized last night as I was falling asleep that when I went back to resize my image it probably reverted my entry to its default f-locked settings, I've changed it back to public now :)

I had the same problem posting KFP's entry last week: it was set on "friends only" as the default. Gary was the one who let me know about that.
