ONTD Original: Five Best K-Dramas I Watched in 2024

Nov 29, 2024 22:31

I have decided this is an annual ONTD tradition now. I make a post about K-dramas I watched over the past year and solicit everyone else's favorite dramas and we all have a good time etc etc. The last couple of years, I think I did best and worst dramas, but TBH, this year, I didn't really watch anything BAD. I watched a few dramas that were ( Read more... )

navillera was so good!! another kdrama I enjoyed this year was crash I hope for a season 2!! lovely runner was mostly cute but something about it I couldn't fully enjoy it. I had high expectations for Queen of tears and love next door but I feel like they just fell short, it's a shame with the casting but they just convoluted storyline

Navillera had me sobbing on the couch, lmao. I was NOT expecting it to hit me that hard, but damn. I was an emotional wreck.

When the Phone Rings is next on my list! I gotta finish Mr. Plankton first.

lol I LOVED the male lead of When the Phone Rings in Mr. Sunshine so I'm really eager to see him in this drama.

Mr Plankton is good. It's not bad, but it's not amazing. It's enjoyable enough and tbhhhhhhh I'm happy to watch it just to look @ Woo Do-hwan's beauty and also he takes his shirt off a couple of times so........ lmao.

It's pretty good though. Not "best of the year" material. But not bad at all!

What Comes After Love is probably my favorite drama all year--it's just so fucking good. Yes, you will cry a lot, but it's a really wonderful story and realistically portrays the difficulty of being in a relationship. I think for me personally there was an additional element that I identified with (being in a foreign country and in a relationship with a local), but the communication issues that are at the backbone of the series are pretty relatable for most of us. It's a gorgeous show, every episode is like a movie, the writing is excellent, the acting is so good, too. A ( ... )

I liked No Gain, No Love a lot too! It almost made it to the list as an honorable mention. I loved the sisterhood between the 3 female characters and tbh, I absolutely lost it laughing at the intruder getting beaten up with dildos.

I just got to episode 1 last night of The Trunk. I am startled by how Seo Hyun-Jin looks but so far I like it. It is dark, but those two mains can carry a drama without talking.

Gong Yoo really is a good actor, what he can do with just his eyes

I only watch 8 kdramas this year and they were all varying levels of mid. Among them, I liked Lovely Runner and Good Partner the most. Lovely Runner was cute and Kim Hyeyoon, the REAL star of the drama, was good. Good Partner had Jang Nara who was good as usual and I liked how it showcased different divorce cases and marriage problems. Shoutout to Death’s Game too since it was fun and Kim Jihoon looked insanely hot in it.

It’s hard to find the motivation to start a kdramas these days. I’m tired of melodramatic or cheesy romances and there are a lot of actors I do not want to see on my screen who keep getting main roles.

Of your list I’ve only seen Queen of Tears and your runner up, Love Next Door. It’s funny because I don’t like the second couple in LND at all and wished I didn’t have to see so much of their storyline. In fact, I thought the show would be better without them. That being said…the main couple felt strange to me because he just looks sooooo young! They only gave me friend zone vibes. Weirdly though I have seen interviews with the ML and FL and wow they have insane chemistry irl.

Queen of Tears was just ok to me. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It was so longggg and didn’t need to be. I thought there were some really pretty shots though.

I only truly got into kdrama these past 2 years so I guess my favorite 5 from watching this year were (not ranked):
1. No Gain No Love
2. Our Blues
3. Crash Course in Romance
4. Death’s Game
5. The Sound of your Heart
