"Everyone's pretty much ok, but .........." *

My knowledge of the details is pretty sketchy at this point but early yesterday evening my brother was stabbed three times by his next door neighbor. No one else was home at the time so he went inside and called 911 himself, the cops came, looked at him and called an ambulance. He's in the hospital now and set to go home (probably) tomorrow.

How the heck does this guy get off on "self defense" if HE had the knife and your brother DIDN'T? Where's the concept of "equal or lesser force" here?

If the neighbor manages to get out of a criminal charge, IMO your brother should go after him in civil court. Make it so expensive for the guy to defend himself that he can't make his mortgage payments. But that's just me.

How the hell can he claim "Self-defense"? Why would he have a steak knife in the street if not to stab someone? That's really messed-up. I hope he recovers quickly, and this neighbor gets charged after all.
