I was informed this morning that I've landed a phone interview with Cal State-Channel Islands for a tenure-track opening in their newly-forming Chemistry department to teach biochemistry and do a bit of research as well. November is National Novel Writing Month, as declared by... someone. I have no idea who. But regardless, it's a nifty deal. The goal is to write an entire novel in one month -- 50,000 words (that's 200 pages in standard 250-word-per-page publisher-speak).
