It kind of reminds me of this Outer Limits episode I watched once, where a time traveller convinced a candidate for president to jump out of a plane that was apparently going to be hit by lighting (because he would be saved by the time traveller whereas everyone else would die), because his opponant would then be elected and was going to be the worst thing that happened to the US, and take away everybody's freedom (with similar things as this ID card).

Eventually she convinced him to jump out. To his death.

Because...*dundunduuuuuun*...*he* was the one that was going to be the worst president in history!...

It was weird. I liked it, though. The episode, not that actual idea.

Oh dear.. I wasn't so upset about the idea of identity cards that, you know, are some sort of national photo ID - basically letting a driver's license be for driving and a SS card be just for collecting social security. This, however, is completely insane.

Well, thats pretty darn unsettling.

However, personally, maybe I'd finally get to open up a bank account without having a driver's license. Because with just a social security card, birth certificate, and parent with all the proper identification I'm obviously a top member of Al Qaida.
