What's with the fascination with insanity that prompts masses of people to identify with outspoken, mentally ill characters? He's not senile, he is just still living in a Cold War mentality of US versus Commies, and he enjoys the usual "before-and-after" == "cause-and-effect" fallacy ( ... )

I admit that I have painted them in an even worse light than he had already selected for himself... But his unwillingness to wonder whether his conclusions or suppositions may be makes him a poor historian and debater. I'm enjoying point D) from your list the best: you and I know that it's false, but this renowned speaker doesn't seem to.

I think his popularity lies in his association with his former employer, Nixon. Some are still bent out of shape that Tricky Dick was caught and maligned for his crimes.

Really. If you want a real mind-fuck, read Will by G. Gordon Liddy. Pat's non-sensical-ness will seem refreshing by contrast. . . and they were on the same Nixon team.
