The Caffeine Rule

Back when I was little, Mum would strictly regulate our caffeine intake. She regarded it as some sort of poison, a chemical that would adversely affect our healthy development by keeping us awake too late such that we'd crash late, only to have to rise early and not function well at school. Not an unfair assessment. The rule? Consumption of ( Read more... )

I notice you have two excellent (though highly conflicting) pieces of reading material there.

"The five people you meet in heaven" was an excellent story, theres alot some people can learn from that book. And if you like it, you should check out the made for T.V movie. I'm not a big fan of T.V movies but i really liked the movie chronicleing the afterlife of Eddie Maintainance and his exploration of the meaning of his life at Ruby Pier

And George Carlin is of course brash and just as hilarious as his other two books. I'm reading it too, i got it for Christmas.

I liked Five People for its clean, unmuddled prose and well-articulated message. I am generally averse to movies adapted from books, especially TV movies, though. I guess it just ruins the story for me.

George Carlin is one of my favourite funnymenpersons. Always flying in the face of being politically correct, which in today's world, I like.

I make it a general rule not to see movies before i read the book... which usually makes the movie seem kinda dull. But there are always exceptions, and i think this is one of them

You are lucky. Soft drinks are the number one cause of obesity. I think most kids should be kept off of this drinking habit--it's unhealthy with all the calorie intake. But then again, milk is pretty fattening to drink consistently, but I guess it depends on what kind of milk one drinks...

I know that's irrelevant to caffeine, but I thought to point that out anyhow...

In retrospect, I feel grateful that I was not raised as many of my peers were, on soda and fast food. I hated the restriction at the time.

Milk in our house was always skim milk. I love skim milk.
