Started reading and... if Mary would as much as try to say something about propriety, Carslile wouldn't hesitate to remind her abut her little confession before the engagement. Just doesn't sound like them.

I agree he might say something. The point I was trying to make, and I probably used bad word choice, is that despite Pamuk Mary still knows the intricacies of the aristocratic world in a way that Richard does not. And it has been implied that that is a large reason he's marrying her.
