Can I just point out here that I don't spend my time searching for huge machines on t'internet. My Mum sent me this picture to show to TLB (who is 8). This is a fairly valid reason for having it. What's worrying is that I found it fascinating enough to post here.
I remember that thing. It's a strip miner in Germany that had to be moved from one strip mine to another. I guess the company decreed that the landscape had been sufficiently pulverised. Anyway, this thing can barely move in a straight line, let alone navigate around obstacles. So what happened is they drew a line from pit 1 to pit 2, spent a fortnight getting it pointing in the right direction, and then let rip. I think there were a couple of houses that had to be demolished, and at least one Autobahn was closed. All in the name of tearing up more countryside to provide brown coal that nobody uses anymore.
