Today's Outing

Today Faith and I went on a trip to Dover Saddlery.  I called them beforehand to see if I could bring a dog in, and it turns out they are very dog-friendly (which makes sense for that kind of place, I guess).  It was really fun taking her to a brand-new (as in unfamiliar to Faith) store; it's been awhile since we've been someplace she's never been ( Read more... )

I gave ein a haircut a few days ago and I kept thinking about how you cut faiths hair! I didn't butcher ein too bad. How did you learn to clip her hair?

I saw the pictures you posted, and you did a great job clipping Ein! I actually never did really learn how to groom Faith--I just muddle along and gradually get better. Honestly the way you clipped Ein is probably more difficult than what I do with Faith because the parts that I clip, I clip as short as I can--I don't have to mess around with snap-on combs.

Is Ein enjoying his cooler summer clip?

Aw, thank you! I'm learning the same way with Ein, just as I go!
Smokey the cat was difficult, I have shave lines on him and small bits of fur I couldn't get off. But he is so done with me working on him anyway, so I'm just letting him go.

Ein is not panting as much or as hard, which makes me so happy!! A hairy guy like him gets soooooooo hot in the summertime.

I didn't know you are a former horse person! I rode nonstop in high school- I had a quarter/arab mix horse and I rode for hours a day. I did 4-H, but I really wasn't any good at shows, lol.

Yup! I have a little QH mare named Chancey. She's pictured (looking a little more ridiculous than usual) in this entry. She's 24 years old and is boarded on my aunt's farm. I live 250 miles away from her right now. :( I never got into showing--I went to one show and rode a couple of dressage tests, and it was really fun, but I never got around to it again.

Awww, Chancey's so pretty- beyond all the glitter, I mean. (Although, she was really pretty with all the ribbons and stuff, too.)

I miss riding!

Thank you, I think she's pretty, too! I miss riding, too, which is totally dumb because I could still do it if I wanted. I go out and brush her and play with her, but...haven't gotten around to riding for awhile.
