It's the most wonderful season of all

Halloween OUGHT to be my favorite. It's most in line with my aesthetic, my outlook, my sense of humor. And I'm not religious (I identify as agnostic at this point, when I identify as anything at all). But there's something about Christmas, y'all ( Read more... )

So funny that you posted this now... I just created a GoogleDoc form to send to family and friends based on 'Christmas Wishes' because I geek forms and spreadsheets. AND, rather doing this because I love Christmas, I'm doing it because I LOATHE Christmas and all the stress it entails. I thought this would help get me in the spirit of things.

If you are curious, here's the form

Also- you are a trendsetter, maybe you'd have better luck, I tried to start a meme last year regarding IDEAS:

Oh, what a neat meme! I really dig that! I will have to give it some thought and post it myself.

I love me some Christmas.

I actually get offended by the "Keep the Christ in Christmas" sorts because I want to know what is actually wrong about loving the holiday because it brought my family together every year for delicious food and telling of stories and laughter and smiles and love?

It's not religious, but it certainly is a tradition.

I respond to Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays.

It's resulted in a very odd war of words until someone gives up.

I worked with some codgerly old republicans on the past.

Happy Holidays is inclusive. We can't have that here in 'Murica.

When sending holiday cards, I always try to find the least religious thing possible.

I tend to be fond of winter scenes featuring deer. Or sometimes cats.

Also- all time favorite Christmas movie? LOVE ACTUALLY

I begin watching it earlier and earlier each year. It still makes me cry and my heart always feels like it swells (like the Grinch's) when I watch it. Because that is what life is supposed to be all about. Love. In all its forms.

I've only seen it once but that was a really sweet movie.

For the last few years, I've blurred them together.

I have a nightmare before christmas tree, a small black tree that I've collected orange and purple and tim-burton themed ornaments for. I put it up before Halloween, and it stays up until the new year :)

I'm agnostic, and I want to love secular Christmas. But I think I will have a hard time of that until I have kiddies of my own. It's just not the same once you grow up.

I think I have more fun with it as an adult, actually. Like, as a kid, I got to be an observer of the magic. As an adult, I get to make the magic HAPPEN. I love that.
