Oh god, this is what she was talking about wasn't she? I'm not much into public performances.

Also, what are you talking about? And why would anything be strictly enka? Politics during New Years seems silly, though I can't argue some of those violin players on the street can be fun to listen to.

It's not strictly enka - Kouhaku is always comprised of enka singers and pop stars only; no rock bands!

Did Miss Yuuko already recruit you to the White Team? We're the hosts - just so you know.

I've never heard of Kouhaku. Mou! Why are things so different for everyone else!

She did say I should come over, I had no idea it was about singing. But, it would be rude to deny such a lovely woman.

I'll do my best! Um... let's see. Do we have any musical backup?

Nice to meet you too, Hikaru-kun.

We might. I'm trying to convince that Tohma guy to help us out~ He said he would. I know he has a keyboard, and some other instruments the Scientists gave him. I know for a fact he has a tambourine, at the very least.

We might be able to get some more instruments like shamisen and stuff from the Scientists, like he did, if we ask. We're still sorting it out.

Because it's a pauper's hellhole - this place is totally impoverished. It's a much better name than Discedo - and it's totally descriptive, so people know exactly what kind of place it is right off the bat: poor.

What's a host club? And, is this place really called planet poverty?

Yes - we named it ourselves.

And a Host Club is a place where ladies and gentlemen, who are idle, are catered to with tea and games and pleasant conversation by charming and handsome gentlemen, who are also idle; in fewer words, it is a dream world~

But, what if the planet isn't poor everywhere? I mean, it wouldn't make sense. You don't have a country of just peasants.

And, so, it's a club for bored people with nothing to do?

[Pinged!]

How would it normally be done in your world?

one_is_hikaru December 29 2009, 23:39:30 UTC
Normally, the most popular pop artists and enka singers would be formally invited by the NHK channel - there would be 25 acts per team, including both solo artists and musical groups. Each contestant would be made up very prettily and perform on stage, and voters from all over Japan would call in to choose whether the Red Team or the White Team should win; whichever team won, everyone would get a trophy. It's a really big honor to be invited to Kouhaku - especially if you're not even Japanese. Then it would end at 11.45, to show fifteen minutes of everyone celebrating New Year's Eve all around the country until 12, when the ball would drop.

We're just doing it for fun, so it's not as formal or coordinated as it really should be - we don't have popular musicians to invite, anyhow. So it's just anyone who wants to participate.

Mm, that must be why I've never heard of it before...

Is there anything I could do to help?

no worries! >w< take your time~~ one_is_hikaru December 30 2009, 00:26:33 UTC
You could help with wardrobe, you could help by voting at the end - you could participate, yourself~ The Red Team will need all the help they can get, you know~
