UCL interviews post-mortem
Well, I have to say that they seemed to go quite well.
There were about 8 of us, and I was the only one wearing a suit. Still, better to be over-dressed than under-dressed - you can dial the level of formality down with tone of voice, choice of vocabulary and body language, but it's hard to do it the other way.

- Monday 19th: interviews and meetings for PhD at Imperial

My birthday
My birthday was exactly what I wanted - me, my family, a nice atmosphere and no pressure to have 'fun'. I've never been a fan of my own birthday, and unless I am in an exceptionally fine mood I don't want to go out with friends on the day.

I've got an interview at UCL next Friday for a PhD.
Hooray! Now all I have to do is work out where UCL is! -
CWS strikes again
This is seriously beginning to eat into my work time. There just ain't no way those two lots of class work are getting done, and my project is already behind and I'm getting more than a little edgy - I had high hopes for this thing.
I have not managed to achieve a single thing all day, and my supervisor is not here to help (at a meeting).

On a lighter note...
I must be mad.
I just looked up a language (as I like to do) using Wikipedia - it's called Occitan, a Romance language often called 'wonky French' by the French, but in reality a much different language that is nearer Latin in many respects than French is.

It occurs to me, as it occurs to everyone, that with a new year there is a new chance. A clean slate, and perhaps I can make a tabula rasa of my mind too.
