Found this in an old journal of mine... I was slipping into sleep and writing with my eyes closed. Perhaps slipping slowly insane... In any case there are no spelling errors, it was uninhibited writing... It seems to apply today as well:

It's true. Inspiration lost. I've had many of those moments. I'll be driving. Or walking to class. And I make a mental note to write about this moment. And when I get down to it later, the moment is lost and so are my words.

I picked up Invisible Monsters a minitue ago, thinking the while of you. Nothing seems quite so unlikely, or quite so out of reach right now. As once, everything felt impossible. A dream.

I'll be sure to look it up.
And I know exactly what you mean, about the inability to recreate inspiration.
