There is a sea of black jackets and wool covers surrounding me. I am one of them-- rats. We stand in front of a band, playing in Barracks. A band named "Jimmy's Chicken Shack." Apparently some upperclassmen might get in some serious shit a.k.a. kicked out of VMI for "inciting a rat riot." A rat riot is an instance where the fourth classmen defy authority and do something they aren't supposed to. In this particular case, it was a jump in a river. Well, I survived Hell Week. It was somewhat hellish. Lots of yelling, drill, cleaning, with no time and little sleep. Funny thing is, Company Cadre has to ask permission to touch us, and we can only be given pushups in sets of ten.
