So yeah, I'm working on a fic. Does anyone have any good breakup songs? I have a couple of ideas rolling around in my head but I thought I'd get some other suggestions 'cause I'm not sure I like the ones I have

Well....that depends what kind of break-up it is.

Personally I'm quite partial to the Smashing Pumpkins Fuck You (An Ode to No One). It's a goodie.

Then again I'm also very fond of Love Will Tear Us Apart Again by Joy Division is good too if you want to go back several thousand years.

Neither of those songs are gender specific either, which is good.

And as much as I'd like to help you out I'm using both my lungs at the moment! Sorry.

These are all pretty mellow, as breakup songs go, but

"The Lover After Me," by Savage Garden- perfectly symbolic of my breakup feelings after my last relationship debacle, and gender neutral. Whee.

"Where You Want to Be", by Darren Hayes- written by the singer of Savage Garden right after the duo's demise (and people say they weren't in love), it's just heartbreaking.

"Ghost," by Howie Day- haunting and sad, this also is gender neutral (in fact, all three are). Very, very good.

"The World Has Turned And Left Me Here" by Weezer is the only one I can think of. And pretty much anything by Fiona Apple. Love Ridden, maybe? Her songs are kind of really depressing though.

Yes, there is always a way to use Crowing. you should track it down and listen to it if you get a chance. It's really pretty and sad.

Alas, alergy season has arrived. My lungs prolly won't be unclogged 'til december!
