If you were to recommend a book to me, what book would it be and why?

Snow Garden by Christopher Rice but only if you are in the collegiate mood. The book is super depressing but exposes me to the workings of gay white people.

I somehow feel this urge to avoid Christopher Rice but maybe I'll check that one out.

The whole "Son of the famous Anne Rice--can't really write worth a lick but people'll read him anyway" thing kind of turns me off.

Ah, I've read it twice :P It's good. I think it loses steam towards the end but it's a good potboiler.

I wouldn't place it above It, The Stand, Pet Sematary, Desperation, Eyes of the Dragon, The Dark Tower Series, Insomnia, Misery, Hearts in Atlantis, or most of all The Shining though.

((And if you haven't read one of those, get on it!))

-used to be a huge Stephen King junkie.

House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski, because it's beautiful.

Need more explanation?

Someone else suggested that to me once. I should read it!

You know me and my one-track mind:

Broadway Babies by Ethan Mordden...more Broadway dirt and dish per page than you'll find anywhere else (and that includes the author's subsequent by-the-decades summary of shows). Second runner-up would be his Rodgers & Hammerstein book, in the same vein.

I actually want to read that a lot.

We're thinking of trying to get standing room for Jersey Boys after July 4th? You interested?
