More Oxygen = Less Good?

Last year Dr. Bryan Bledsoe collated and presented some research on oxygen therapy, it's biochemistry, and the implications thereof. In short, oxygen is not always good, and sometimes bad. The American Heart Association is revising their CPR guidelines to encourage compressions over breaths.

That is a very interesting study. Thanks for sharing!

yep, just compressions with passive ventilation and a non-rebreather in place is having better outcomes than advanced airways/PPV, etc.

Good article and points. Will be quoting some of those links the next time I'm asked "why did you only put a nasal cannula on that AMI pt even though they had an O2 sat of 98%?"
