Cold Stone Creamery on Broad Street is closing today. For those of you
who are around, they are giving away everything that remains in the
store for free. This includes scoops, cones, pints, etc. Go now if you
want it.

Hahaha we have a Broad Street here in Richmond - I didn't look at who posted this and I got all excited. I was like "OMG I have to forward this to my sister!" then I saw it was another Broad Street like 500 miles away. Sad. Are you going?

All hail the power of the Internet: A coworker and I walked over (it's about a 2-3 minute walk from our offices) just now; they were just about out of all displayed ice cream (so I only came away with a pint of Mango, which sounded only marginally better than the no-fat, no-sugar "cream" variety that was also running out fast). That being said, another coworker of mine and a friend came in after us and inquired about the availability of ice cream cakes. (I didn't think they had any as none were in the display.) "Yes, as long as you don't mind that they're not decorated or anything," she replied to him. So, he and his friend got chocolate ice cream cakes (each)!

that is crazy! I was thinking free scoops of ice cream - but whole cakes? damn!

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought of it; of course, my cake-bearing co-worker says they ran out of those with the next two people. ;)

wow that is cool (yet sad) I hope you have a ice cream alternative there. As much as the chain thing is taking over the world, it's good to know you have a place for your ice cream mix-in fix.. unless, in this case you won't. *bummer*

ps: we live downtown LA and they are *supposed* to be getting a Marble Slab or Cold Stone Creamery (I'm not sure which) in the Market Loft stores with the jacked up (expensive) grocery store we've been shopping at... It's weird they'd give it away rather than send it on to the next local chain.

Well, there is a Ben & Jerry's around the corner, so all is not lost. ;) (I think there's a Marble Slab in 5pts, also.)

I don't know, but Maggie Moo's (on Prince) died about 8 months or so ago. (Of course, having a Ben & Jerry's just around the block probably didn't help [Coldstone].)
