so funny i JUST watched this last night, and immediately wanted to see the actual documentary & to find out if there was a book about them too.. they're like this incredible trainwreck, though I mean that in the best possible way.
in my opinion the movie was okay but of course it can't compare to the documentary.. you must watch it! I found myself watching certain scenes over and over again.. now I'm like "tim, we need to take a vacation to the hamptons so I can see the house!" LOL.... poor tim to be married to such a nut job like me!
btw, if you find out if there is a book let me know. I don't think there is but I know there is a broadway show that may or may not still be playing.. I would kill to see it!
Oh honey, Edie is my hero! I am so in love with her. You know there was a follow-up documentary after Gray Gardens called The Beales of Gray Gardens -- you need to go rent it if you haven't already! The whole crew goes back to see Edie and her mom after ten years or so. It's sad but still incredible. Edie does some SERIOUS dancing. God! I don't even want to see the HBO doc because nothing can compare to the real Edith, but I'm sure I will break down simply because I love them and I love Drew Barrymore! I love you and I miss you and I want to go to Mexico now!
I have heard of that but didn't know there was more footage (beales of gray gardens).. I will be on a search to find it now! Of course you knew about it already and are totally in love with Edie.. how could you not be?!?
oh yes.. the pantyhose over the shorts or pants and using the skirt as a cape! I love her voice and accent and her style! She really did look fabulous for her age in the documentary! I find it so sad in a way.. like she lost a lot of her life there in that home... but also just very beautiful. I don't know... I can see it all different ways.
