I'm inspired to rant after reading a comment on someone else's blog. The gist of it was that France will never exceed American economic output as long as it has silly little rules like the 35-hour working week. This argument is irrelevant because France is a much smaller country than the US, but I shall proceed to hold forth anyway ( Read more... )

America, being a young country, finds it easier to point out the flaws in other countries than to address and fix it's own problems. Honestly, there are times I'd prefer live in Canada.

My comment wasn't meant to be an indictment of your country or culture. Recently, I've read of a new "siesta" policy, allowing French workers a paid nap during the day. I don't have a problem with that, just think it's silly. France is a lovely place and I plan to visit there one day to see it's beauty.

Yeah, I think my rant was disproportionate in retrospect. I also read about the siesta proposal. I think that just was one very slow news day, to be honest. Oh, and I'm not French, by the way!
